Family Camps
Our family camp programs service the entire military or veteran family. We address high-priority public health issues identified by the Department of Defense Total Force Fitness and enhance the physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being of military parents and children through an evidence-based approach. The focus of these programs is on nature-based health promotion, including educational, recreational, outdoor skill-building, and conservation activities.
Our family camps provide nature-based camping opportunities that promote physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being and equip military families to incorporate nature and outdoor experiences into a healthy lifestyle.
Family programs provide:
- Resiliency Skills: Enhance coping strategies, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability in parent-child relationships through new and challenging situations, fostering a sense of shared achievement.
- Support Systems: Create a safe and welcoming environment for military families to share their hopes, fears, dreams, and opportunities with others who have similar experiences.
- Youth Awareness: Teach the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and understanding the consequences of actions to promote self-responsibility and responsible citizenship.
- Family Conversations: Encourage discussions about the military family experience to strengthen family bonds and improve parent-child relationships.
- Camp Experiences: Offer camps for military parents and their teenage children to connect, build teams, and solve problems together.
